We can’t wait to welcome back The Blackpool Museum Project to our Wordpool Family Day on July 2, 1-4 at Stanley Park

John Simpson-Wedge, Education Officer, shares with us a little more about what we can expect…

WP: Tell us a little bit about The Blackpool Museum Project?

JS-W: The Blackpool Museum Project is a Heritage Lottery & Blackpool Council funded project to create a brand new museum in Blackpool. The museum will celebrate Blackpool’s story as the world’s first working class mass seaside resort, and its unique place in the history of British entertainment.

WP: What are you most looking forward to about the Family Day?

JS-W: We are looking forward to helping families have a fantastic time and telling them all about the museum project.

WP: What can we expect to see on the day?

JS-W: We are creating a Big Idea collage, where children can fill in a huge banner with all the things that make Blackpool great.

WP: What was you favourite childhood read?

JS-W: My favourite childhood read was The Abradazil by Andrew Gibson (brilliantly illustrated by Chris Riddell). It is a hilarious and thoughtful fantasy adventure through a dystopian kingdom which shows that heroes come in all shapes and sizes, but that sometimes victory isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!
