NaNo – A guide to writing a novel in 30 days
The workshop will introduce the concept of National Novel Writing Month and giving a brief explanation of the writer’s experiences thereof and then launch into an initial practical writing exercise which is designed to show the difficulty of writing without a plan.
After this, participants will look at some of the excellent resoures available to writers to help them construct a sound story outline, character, plot twist etc followed by participants outlining a short (500 word) story based on a template provided by the writer.
The group will then use the ‘Write or Die’ programme to type this 500 word story followed by feedback and editing.
Handouts with web and book sources will be given out along with Amazon vouchers.
Every participant will recieve a copy of Vicky Ellis’s book ‘The Colonel and the Phallus of Incomplete Mortality – You are what you fondle’ which will be launched at Wordpool.
NaNo is on Wednesday 9th November from 2-4pm at Central Library and costs £3. The workshop is limited to 10 places so early booking is advised! Tickets are available from the Grundy Art Gallery, Queen Street, Blackpool.
